This Statement outlines our practices for collection, use, disclosure, and parental consent for the personal information of children (users under the age of 13 in the US, or the relevant age of digital consent as otherwise defined by applicable laws).
We comply with applicable laws, including COPPA, which requires special protection for children’s personal information. For more information about COPPA and general tips about protecting children’s online privacy, please visit OnGuard Online.
We collect information outlined in the “Collection of Information” section of the Sprout Labs Privacy Statement directly from parents or guardians (“Parents”) during sign-up. Additional information may be supplied by children as they use the product.
We use Parent-Supplied Information in order to provide Parents and their children with custom-tailored services, specifically through our interactive personal AI tutor that adapts to a child’s interests and skill level, and separately through our 1:1 virtual live tutoring sessions.
Audio Recordings are used within Sprout Labs’ controlled systems to enhance and improve the Services.
Specifically and only for families who have purchased virtual, 1:1 live tutoring services, we collect video recordings of your child.
Transcripts from a child’s session, based on audio and video recordings, are used to train Sprout Labs’ AI technology to improve Sprout Labs Services performance in general. While we try to limit the personal information collected in conversations with the AI tutor, and in the audio and video transcripts, we cannot guarantee that any logs of interactions will be fully free of personally identifiable information. We therefore treat any such information as if it were personally identifiable information.
We will collect the data associated with responses to activities, tasks, and assessments, as well as response-time (how long your child takes to answer questions).
We obtain verifiable parental consent before collecting any child’s personal information through a credit card transaction during subscription. If consent is not provided within a reasonable time after notice, we will delete your online contact information from our records.
If consent is not given, we will not process your child’s personal information and your child will not be allowed to use our Services.

We apply heightened security measures for children’s data. We do not use children’s data for marketing or share it with third parties for advertising purposes. We delete children’s personal data when it is no longer needed for the purpose for which it was collected or when consent is withdrawn.
Children’s well-being is at the core of who we are and what we do. We are committed to providing a safe, age-appropriate experience. The Sprout Labs environment is a closed and controlled environment, with built-in guardrails to protect a child’s experience.
